Just a short distance from the foreshore, tucked away on Beach Street is Frankston’s North Indian hotspot Sandli Vehra. Decorated in warm tones of yellow and maroon and fitted with ornate chandeliers, Sandli Vehra oozes a welcoming vibe in which loyal locals and hungry out of towners are only too happy to sit, relax and loosen their belts slightly. A worthy option to start is the boneless chicken Pakora, marinated overnight in exotic spices and cooked in a clay oven, before a sumptuous main like beef Korma Badami in Kadhai sauce and completed with coriander seeds, cumin seeds and ghee. To finish, perhaps sample some Ras Malai, a traditional Indian sweet dumpling dish made by condensing milk; or instead, cap it all off with the tempting Gulab Juman accompanied by vanilla ice cream.
