The Taco Bill Story
In Australia today, Taco Bill is synonymous with Mexican food as it is the longest established and most respected Mexican Restaurant family in the country, having survived and prospered in the competitive hospitality industry for over forty years. The company’s beginnings were simple, with its founder (Taco) Bill Chilcote, coming to Australia in 1967 from the border of Mexico and California with just a corn grinder and a tortilla machine. Bill started producing tortillas and corn chips and opened the first Taco Bill Mexican Restaurant on Queensland’s Gold Coast before heading south, opening firstly in Bondi, Sydney and next at Armadale in Melbourne.
