Set up on the Warburton Highway, on the Yarra River is unique event space Projekt 3488. Not your average bricks and mortar venue, Projekt 3488 is a converted Masonic Hall that now reflects the passion of owner and designer Mark Fenech. The design could be described as something like a contemporary church or art museum, crossed with the inner workings of a gigantic clock, with ornate iron handrails that spiral up staircases, flaming fire pits, junglelike gardens and sturdy tables hanging from the ceiling by a crisscross of metalware. Enchanted visitors find themselves at the Projekt for anything from performance art, to functions with tantalising catering, gallery shows and weddings, then gladly take advantage of the shuttle bus whether locally, or all the way back to Melbourne.
